The Leeuwenkuil Reserve White 2020 and 2022 are made from whole bunch pressing at harvest, from older vineyard selected predominantly Chenin blanc grapes, with a small percentage of other top white varieties, (hence Reserve!) then half oaked in Foudre (large oak barrels) for 9 months, giving it the amazing moorish savoury notes. The wine’s complexity shows hints of orange/ruby grapefruit, yellow apple, and toasted almond in its long finish—a wonderful reward with good fine dishes.
